Frequently Asked Questions

When I am enrolled in the Prefer Optic Vision Care (POVC) Benefits Program will I receive a Vision Care identification card?
No, there is no need for an ID card. When you call the customer service center to determine eligibility, the representative will work with you to select an eye care provider. The authorization for service will be electronically sent to the provider you have selected.

Do I need to call Prefer Optic Vision Care (POVC) for authorization of benefits every year?
Yes. You need to call every year for an authorization of service to be sent to the provider you have selected. This is helpful because as the Network of Providers change, there may be greater options available to you at the time you call to receive benefits.

Can I add my spouse and dependents to the POVC benefit plan?
Yes. During “Open Enrollment,” it is the responsibility of each member to select the “Family Benefit Option” in order to get Family POVC coverage for your spouse and dependents under the age of 19 (age 23 if a student). There is an accommodation of coverage for an unmarried child, who is incapable of self-sustaining employment, due to a mental or physical handicap diagnosed prior to the age of 19.

Are broken or lost glasses covered under the benefit program?
Yes. You need to call every year for an authorization of service to be sent to the provider you have selected. This is helpful because as the Network of Providers change, there may be greater options available to you at the time you call to receive benefits.
